On Tuesday, September 20, at 10:50 a.m., Rensselaer will conduct a routine test of its RPIAlert siren and speaker system. The five-minute test will include a verbal announcement as well as activation of a siren. Rensselaer routinely tests the siren and other parts of the RPIAlert system to ensure proper function during real emergencies or other urgent situations.

Combined with the RPIAlert texting, email, phone, and website components, the RPIAlert system provides the Institute with a direct and immediate way of issuing alerts and information during campus emergencies. Students and others who wish to sign up for optional RPIAlert text messages to their cell or smart phones can do so by visiting the Student Information System.

Go to alert.rpi.edu to learn more. During an emergency, this will be the initial source of information for the Rensselaer community, the media, and our neighbors in the community.

Anyone with questions can call the Rensselaer Department of Public Safety at (518) 276-6656.
