Head men’s hockey coach Seth Appert will participate in his first marathon in September and will attempt to raise awareness and funds in the process. The ninth-year head coach will run in the Adirondack Marathon in memory of Richard Curadi, a soldier with 32 years in the Marines and Army and father of Engineers defenseman and assistant captain Luke Curadi. The 26.2-mile competition takes place on Sept. 28 in Schroon Lake and all proceeds will be donated to Defending the Blueline.
“It is an honor to continue our work with Defending the Blue Line,” said Appert. “Luke started our involvement with the charity 15 months ago and our relationship has grown stronger ever since. I am humbled to run in honor of Rich while continuing the RPI hockey family mission of providing hockey opportunities to military families.”
“Richard’s son Luke and the coaching staff of RPI have been a big part of our growth on the East Coast and have done several fundraisers for us,” said Shane Hudella, Defending The Blue Line president and founder. “I’m also very humbled that the Curadi family has asked that donations be made to DTBL in lieu of memorials. I would also like to announce that we will be constructing a ‘Hall of Heroes’ at our office in Minnesota. CW4 Curadi will be among our first inaugural inductees.”
