ReunionThe largest alumni event of the year is almost here! More than 3,000 alumni and guests are expected to return to campus for Reunion & Homecoming the weekend of October 1 through 4. While traditional Class Reunions still take place (this year for classes ending in 0 or 5), many other groups are returning to campus to celebrate reunions, anniversaries, and milestones. Among the special interest groups planning events are athletics teams, Greek organizations, and former student groups.

Astronaut Reid Wiseman ‘97, who will attend Reunion & Homecoming in person this year, spoke to alumni last year live from the International Space Station.

Many events are planned for the weekend, from educational offerings such as Back to Class, to career networking programs, social events, sports competitions, and events featuring special guests. Just a few of the program highlights are: the President’s State of the Institute Address, Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame induction ceremony, FanFest carnival midway at the ECAV terrace, the Auto Show and Morning Car Cruise presented by Rensselaer, Rensselaer hockey, and a presentation at the George M. Low Gallery.

A special event featuring NASA connections is also being planned, with special guests NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, ’08H, and astronaut Reid Wiseman ’97. “You may recall that last year Wiseman ‘attended’ Reunion & Homecoming via a video chat live from the International Space Station,” said Jeff Shanz, assistant vice president for alumni relations. “This year, we are pleased to be welcoming him to campus in person!”
