Rensselaer students, faculty, and staff are invited to join alumni around the globe in showing their Rensselaer pride on Friday, February 7—RPI Spirit Day.
Join in the fun by wearing your RPI gear to work or class, and put your pride in your Rensselaer connection on display. Past year’s displays of pride featured pets, kids, flying fish, and the cockpit of a jet.
“Your demonstration of pride can be as simple as wearing red, but do something to show the world that YOU are a proud member of the amazing Rensselaer community,” said Jeff Schanz, assistant vice president of alumni relations.
Hundreds of alumni participate every year, in small and large groups, or by themselves. The photos are shared over social media using the hashtag #RPISpiritDay.
Members of the Rensselaer community are also being encouraged to show their pride virtually by changing their profile pic or avatar to a Rensselaer-related image—several are on the RPI Spirit Day website, or create your own.
The Rensselaer Union is inviting members of the campus community to participate in a group Spirit Day photo on the steps at the Union Horseshoe on February 7 at 10 a.m. Check out their Facebook event.
If your group would like to run your own Spirit Day-related promotion on campus, or if you need more information, visit the website or contact Nicholas Fortune ’13, alumni relations, fortun4@rpi.edu or (518) 276-6689.
Spirit Day is taking place in conjunction with Big Red Freakout, which is Saturday, February 8 vs. Brown. Get together with some friends to catch the game, attend Big Red Freakout Ice House at the Heffner Alumni House, and make a whole Spirit Weekend out of it!
