RPi Day

Students are the main beneficiaries of the Annual Fund, which helps to provide scholarships, competitive financial aid packages, and a world-class undergraduate education.

The countdown to 3.1415926 is underway. Beginning on Friday, March 13, Rensselaer will host and celebrate the second annual one-day giving campaign—RPi Day. The event starts at midnight on March 13, and ends at 9:26 a.m. on March 14.

Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (or 3/14), since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of pi in decimal form.

The goal of this year’s RPi Day is to encourage 1,256 alumni, alumnae, parents, faculty, staff, and friends—4π (4 times 314)—to show their support for Rensselaer students by making a gift to the Rensselaer Annual Fund, Let’s Go Red, weR Gold, or a favorite school or department on campus. Last year, 819 donors contributed more than $232,000 on RPi day, setting a record in donors and dollars given to Rensselaer on a single day.

The challenge ends at 9:26 a.m. on March 14, or 3.1415926. Follow the Rensselaer Alumni Association social media accounts and share or retweet activity—using the hashtag #RPiDay15—happening on their feeds on @RPIAlumni, Facebook, or go to the RPi website to participate.
