The School of Engineering performed extremely well in a recent ranking of engineering degree programs. College Factual ranks programs offered by four-year U.S. colleges and universities and has recently updated their 2018 rankings.

The materials engineering program at Rensselaer was ranked third nationwide, improving its ranking position from the previous year’s number 4 ranking. The program has also been ranked first in the state of New York, improving from second last year.

Based upon PayScale survey data, a student who graduates from Rensselaer with a degree in materials engineering will make average early-career earnings of $63,000 and average mid-career earnings of $89,000. This is 58.3 percent above the national average of all graduates who make $40,000 in their early career. It is also 32.4 percent above the average graduate’s mid-career salary of $67,000.

Rensselaer’s aerospace and aeronautical engineering program was ranked fifth nationwide, and first in the state of New York. Rensselaer has achieved this ranking two years in a row.

Based upon PayScale survey data, a student who graduates from Rensselaer with a degree in aerospace and aeronautical engineering will make average early-career earnings of $61,000 and average mid-career earnings of $109,000. This is 53.6 percent above the national average of all graduates who make $40,000 in their early career. It is also 61.0 percent above the average graduate’s mid-career salary of $67,000.

The biomedical engineering program at Rensselaer was ranked 14th nationwide and third in New York state.
