Works by Sergio Gonzalez Tornero and Marlene Marshall (below) will be on display through April 10.

The Shelnutt Gallery in the Rensselaer Union, along with the Black Students Alliance, is celebrating Black History Month with an exhibition titled “Roots & Rhythms 2014.” The exhibit will be up February 20 through April 10. An opening reception will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. A performance by Professor Ade Knowles and his “Roots of Africa” music ensemble will be held 6 to 7 p.m.

Johnson, Christina Malisoff, Marlene Marshall, Reginald Madison, Antonio & Christian Montalvo, George Simmons, Sergio Gonzalez Tornero, Stephen J. Tyson, Ron Walton, and Frank Wimberley.
