In light of legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock’s participation in Rensselaer’s Commencement and Colloquy events, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center is offering Rensselaer students, faculty, and staff discounted tickets for the Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24.

The Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival will celebrate its 41st anniversary this year and Herbie Hancock will perform for the first time in 12 years on Saturday, June 23. This will mark his 12th appearance at the festival beginning with the first festival, in 1978.

The two-day, two-stage festival continues to be one of the largest jazz music events in North America. This year’s lineup also includes Chris Botti, Jon Batiste with The Dap-Kings, Lean on Me: José James Celebrates Bill Withers, Joey Alexander, Gregory Porter, Mavis Staples, and many others.

$20 Jazz Festival Tickets for Rensselaer Students
: Full-time students receive a $20 (regularly $68) ticket on the lawn or in sections 8-30 in the amphitheatre. Student ticket holders must show student ID for entry.

$55 Jazz Festival Lawn Tickets for Rensselaer Faculty, Friends, and Family
: Rensselaer faculty, friends, and family receive a $55 (regularly $68) ticket on the lawn.

$63 Jazz Festival Tickets for Rensselaer Faculty, Friends, and Family
: Rensselaer faculty, friends, and family receive a $63 (regularly $78) ticket in sections 8-30 in the amphitheatre.
