WMHT’s Innovation Hall recently featured a team of Rensselaer researchers working to make wind turbines more efficient. In the Center for Flow Physics and Control at Rensselaer, Professor Michael Amitay and doctoral student Thomas Rice use synthetic jets to smooth the turbulence and vibrations that often break wind turbines as a result of atmospheric conditions. Their research has the potential to increase the generation of wind energy and reduce its cost.
