Mariana Figueiro, director of the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer, was recently featured on WNYT’s Forum 13, where she discussed the work she is doing to use light to treat symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Figueiro found that light can have lasting results improving sleep, reducing agitation, and reducing depression in Alzheimer’s patients. Her research has the potential to help treat the sleep disturbances that often result in patients having to be institutionalized.
